Games & Series
As the worlds of television and gaming continue to converge, adaptions have become one of the most visible – and challenging – forms of cross-media storytelling. This session focuses on what it really takes to translate a game into a series: from narrative structure and worldbuilding to audience expectations and fan engagement.
What are the key challenges for writers, producers and creatives when adapting interactive experiences into linear storytelling? How can adaptations stay true to their source mate-
rial while finding their own voice? And what strategies help create series that fans not only accept, but actively embrace as part of a larger storyworld?
With keynotes and insights from David Daubitz on the Do’s and Don’ts of successful adaptations, Alisha Hasan on lessons learned from cross-industry creative sprints with Helsinki Film Lab, as well as perspectives from Steven Kane (HALO), Robert Henrysson (Supermassive Games) and Stefanía Halldórsdóttir (Avalanche Studios), the session brings together voices from both industries to explore how adaptations can expand and evolve story universes in meaningful ways.
After a short break, games companies present their IPs that just wait to be adapted and expanded into the world of TV series!
