Star Trek. Strange New Worlds

Cinema

„Star Trek. Strange New Worlds“ ran 2022 in the festival cinema program.

Back to the roots: With Captain Christopher Pike, the “Star Trek” universe even ventures back to the time before Captain Kirk. And thus evokes the spirit of the iconic original.

It was probably the moment that turned "Star Trek: Discovery" from a good entry in the long-branched Starfleet saga into a very special one for fans: When the USS Enterprise showed up at the end of the first season. That iconic ship that a certain James T. Kirk would take over from Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount) after his dramatic end. Finally there was an opportunity to take a closer look at the legendary and for decades unlit first captain of the Starship Enterprise. And with him his staff around the also still young Spock (Ethan Peck). What was initially a nice feature has now become the first prominent flagship for Paramount+: A declaration of love to the iconic series original, staged with a keen sense of Roddenberry's basic ideas, and featuring not only Pike and Spock but also the young Uhura. In addition, a sensationally retrofuturistic set, strange new worlds and a captain who - thanks to "Discovery" - is already aware of his future fate. But he can still live "long and prosper". At least until the already announced second season...
