Die Welt Von Morgen (Le Monde De Demain)

Cinema

„Die Welt Von Morgen (Le Monde De Demain)“ ran 2022 in the festival cinema program.

Out of the banlieu, into the motherf*****g rap business. For this world of tomorrow, arte and Netflix trace the rise of France's perhaps most legendary hip-hop crew Supreme NTM in Paris in the late 1980s.

Kool Shen and JoeyStarr are something like the Public Enemy of the French hip-hop scene: the finger always on the verbal trigger, the
state power in the neck and for the disadvantaged minorities in the banlieus idols of musical resistance. "Le Monde De Demain", named after the first album by Supreme NTM (NTM stands for "Nique Ta Mère", i.e. "F*** Your Mother"), released in 1990, traces the first steps of the future rap elite in the mid-1980s. Between coming-of-age story and portrait of a society in upheaval, "Le Monde De Demain" takes us back to 1980s Paris beat by beat and punchline by punchline. A musical and cultural punch in the gut, whose rebellious energy is absolutely infectious and has a touch of Mathieu Kassovitz's legendary "Hate - La Haine".
