Series as Brands: Reimagining and Expanding IPs for the New Media Ecosystems
In an increasingly competitive media landscape, series are no longer just individual productions but the foundation for long-term intellectual property strategies. Successful stories are developed as brands that can travel across formats, platforms and markets.
This session explores how European producers are approaching IP brand building and transmedia world-building. Christina Christ (Keshet Fiction Germany) will discuss the adaptation of existing IPs for the German market, including the reimagining of an iconic German film from the 1920s as a contemporary series. Guido Reinhardt (UFA Serial Drama) will highlight how UFA leverages new technology to extend the life of successful seriesIPs by adapting them into other media and formats.
The session will offer insights into how strong IP can evolve from a single series into a broader narrative universe and how current strategic approaches are incorporating transmedia thinking.
In cooperation with the European Showrunner Programme and KÖLN BUSINESS.
