Another hit from the RTL+ talent incubator: The new, sparkling mermaid rom-com series “Mermaids to Lovers” is already the fourth successful project to emerge from the RTL+ “Storytellers” program for emerging talent. The project and series concept were created by writers Lia Zebra and Larissa Dold, both graduates of the HFF Munich. Olga Alexandra Müller is directing. This charming coming-of-age comedy follows 18-year-old Trixie, who spends her training sessions (and thus a large part of her life) at her grandfather Willy’s swimming pool in hopes of making the German junior swim team—but a group of merpeople throws a wrench in her plans. Suddenly, they have to split up their training times, and sparks fly between the ambitious swimmers and the dazzling amateur mermaids. Together with coach Konstantin and her best friend Nadira, Trixie hatches a plan to get rid of the merpeople as quickly as possible. Soon, however, it becomes clear that she must defend not only her territory from the colorful, glittering fins, but also her heart from mermaiding star Finn…
