When actor and singer Matthias Rödder falls in love with a successful and charismatic lawyer in Cologne's nightlife everything feels like a dream come true.  At first. Because as the title suggests, the lover and life partner who is supposedly soon to be appointed to the European Court of Justice is a scam artist who mercilessly exploits his victim's trust, both financially and emotionally. For years, Rödder is unable to free himself from the ominous grip of his idealized dream man, despite warnings from friends and acquaintances. Until he meets other victims and decides to bring his closest confidant to justice. The three-part documentary series allows those affected to have their say and shows the perfidious means by which "love scammers" can destroy entire existences.
