In the late 1980s and early 1990s, all was still well with the world for department stores, which are now threatened with extinction. At least until a lone car painter with a cute Disney nickname, bombs and blackmail letters, made fools of the police and entertained the media. Arno Funke (played hauntingly by Friedrich Mücke) has caused a stir for years as “department store blackmailer Scrooge”. And has now made himself available to support Mücke and the team around author Ronny Schalk and director Hannu Salonen in an advisory capacity. The result is a meticulously researched and superbly acted piece of contemporary history. Incidentally, it can not only be seen in the public festival program, but its world premiere will also ceremoniously open our anniversary festival on 5 June (closed event).
