Yves Hensel was born in Berlin in 1988 and grew up bilingually as the son of a German mother and an English father. After graduating from high school and completing his civilian service, he worked as an assistant director in an English-language theatre and studied theatre, film and media studies at the University of Vienna, which he dropped out of after two semesters in order to work in the film industry. After several directing and production internships, he began studying screenwriting at DFFB, which he completed with a diploma in 2017. Yves feels at home in all genres and has a particular passion for mystery/horror/thriller and comedy. As a screenwriter, he is responsible for the series ‘Legal Affairs’, ‘The King of Palma’, ‘Helgoland 513’ and most recently the German-language adaptation of ‘Ghosts’. He continues to live in Berlin and works in German and English.
