Born in Neuwied in 1985. Filmed her first horror movie with her identical
twin sister Monika Plura at the age of 11. At that time it was still on VHS,
the editing was analogue. Until they graduated from high school, they had
made over 70 films of all genres, from comedies and dramas to dark
psychological thrillers and stop-motion films.
Martina then went to the Academy of Media Arts Cologne, where she
studied “Media Arts”. It followed a year abroad at the “Escuela de Ciné y
Television” in Cuba and then she made her Master of fine Arts in
„Directing“ at the Hamburg Media School (her sister
in „Cinematography“).
The twins celebrated their feature film debut with the black comedy
„ROCKERS OF THE SUBURBS“, that won several awards. This was followed,
among other things, by the North German western „1 PM NOON“, a
„FRIESLAND“ crime - thriller, several episodes of the series „LAST TRACK
BERLIN” for ZDF and the Christmas series “LAST X-MAS” for RTL+. In
addition, her first children's film “MY LIFE AS LOTTA - OKEY DOKEY
ALPACA” was released in cinemas. Before “MURDER MINFULLY” Martina
shot the psychological thriller “INVISIBLE ATTACKER” for ZDF. In all her
movies her sister is responsible for the cinematography. In addition to
directing, writing is Martina's great passion. Martina has two kids and lives
in Berlin.
