SERIENCAMP CONFERENCE 2026 RECAP

At the industry event Seriencamp Conference, once again attended in record numbers by leading international decision-makers and creatives, discussions included the future of AI-generated series production, while numerous pitching ideas were set in motion. At the accompanying Seriencamp Festival, this future could already be experienced—at least in part—on screen at Cinenova in Cologne Ehrenfeld.
While series flickered across the big screen in the evenings, the daytime programme focused on the content of tomorrow: series concepts were pitched to top decision-makers, potential production deals were initiated, future series highlights were presented in their earliest stages, and the significance of artificial intelligence for the future of series production was explored.
Here, too, creatives were able to celebrate recognition and production support: the EUROPEAN SERIES DEVELOPMENT AWARD, presented by the Council of Europe and endowed with a total of €50,000 in funding, went to the German political thriller RADIO FREE EUROPE. The renowned CO-PRODUCTIONS PITCH AWARD was awarded to the Icelandic band story GUSGUS. The WRITERS VISION PITCH AWARD, which honours projects still in an early creative phase, went to the Czech horror-comedy concept PARALEGAL. In total, nearly 1,000 accredited participants and speakers attended the three-day industry event.
Artistic Director and co-founder Gerhard Maier commented: “We are always extremely pleased to see how months of preparation and planning come together. This applies both to the selection of topics and speakers as well as to the choice of projects. Above all, we are delighted that our participants discover what matters most to us—creating a warm atmosphere and a welcoming environment in which the industry enjoys meeting, networking, and presenting itself.”
The two main funding partners, Film- und Medienstiftung NRW and the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, can also look forward to a boost in visibility for the production hub NRW, and for Seriencamp Festival and Seriencamp Conference in particular.
Fittingly, after the final curtain of the opening screening, one thing is certain: Seriencamp will be back for more. Next year, Seriencamp Festival & Conference will return to Cologne from June 8 to 10, 2027.
