Pitchpool makes international networking easy without travelling the world“ – Interview with Ulrike Schröder

We are super happy to announce that our longtime partner Telepool is presenting SERIENCAMP PITCHPOOL and CONFERENCE in 2021again. Our friendship with Telepool goes back many years and the great thing is that they are not only presenting SERIENCAMP PITCHPOOL and CONFERENCE but also participating in it.

We talked with Ulrike Schröder (VP, International Acquistions & Co-Productions) about her experiences.

Ulrike, how did you experience PITCHPOOL last year?

Given the international reach of our business, we as an industry are all (still) facing severe challenges due to the pandemic. One of the main benefits the PITCHPOOL sessions offered, was the easy access to content and the availability – even in mobile offices. A major advantage of this curated section is the great variety of genres, formats and pitches that were submitted by established producers as well as highly talented newcomers to the scene.

For whom do you think PITCHPOOL is interesting?

PITCHPOOL is a great opportunity for international and local buyers as well as producers who are looking for new projects. If you already have a project but are looking for fresh talent like writers or producers, it is a valuable tool to source from. With the number of pitches presented, it also gives you a head start to identify new trends from the creative and industry side.

Last year pitching and networking moved completely online. How did you experience PITCHPOOL as a networking tool?

The platform makes international networking easy without travelling the world. It becomes very efficient because you get access to the projects before the event starts. Personal contact ist still the best option but in Covid times, the Seriencamp team found a convenient, professional and easy-to-use solution to make (virtual) in-person networking possible.

Do you have any success stories you want to share?

Through the years we have met many creatives and producers at SERIENCAMP PITCHPOOL with whom we actually work today. We have one project in development together with a young female production company we got to know here and one TV series in our upcoming worldsales slate that was presented to us at SERIENCAMP CONFERENCE three years ago. Not to mention numerous other fruitful contacts we made at SERIENCAMP CONFERENCE and PITCHPOOL.

Thank you for your time and giving us some insights in your experience.
