Festival 2017

Mostly world and German premieres could be seen here - accompanied by an extensive supporting program - with free admission, including numerous series highlights from the main sponsors Sky (BABYLON BERLIN, TIN STAR, THE DEUCE) and RTL Crime (SS-GB, GIER - RAUSCH DES GOLDES) as well as from partners such as TNT Serie (RICK UND MORTY, COLONY) and FOX (THE WALKING DEAD, AMERICAN HORROR STORY: CULT, THE GOOD FIGHT).
But even without a German broadcast date behind them, it was possible to travel once around the world on Germany's biggest series couch. Starting with DAS INSTITUT - OASE DES SCHEITERNS, which took viewers to fictional Kisbekistan as a celebrated world premiere, through world premieres from Finland (DEADWIND) and Sweden (ALEX) to series discoveries from Israel (YOUR HONOR), Belgium (TEAM CHOCOLATE, GENERATION B. ), Argentina (EL JARDIN DE BRONCE), Great Britain (GAP YEAR, LOADED), New Zealand (THE BROKENWOOD MYSTERIES), France (ISKANDER), Canada (MARY KILLS PEOPLE) and the USA (FEUD: BETTE AND JOAN).
After three event- and cliffhanger-filled days, the audience award went to the black-humored Canadian thriller series MARY KILLS PEOPLE, which prevailed over the German prestige production BABYLON BERLIN and the surprise hit DAS INSTITUT. In the run-up to the event, a jury - consisting of journalists Hannah Pilarczyk (SPON) and Birgit Fuß (Rolling Stone) as well as presenter and actor Jochen Schropp and ex-opera director Sir Peter Jonas - had already awarded the so-called FIRST LOOK AWARD, where the Belgian satire GENERATION B. placed ahead of TEAM CHOCOLATE (also Belgium) and the Finnish insider tip MENTAL.
The prize for the best web series, also awarded by a jury, went to the Canadian anthology TERREUR 404, which condenses the literal horror of modern communication into a few minutes.
