Born in 1986 in Freiburg im Breisgau, Maurice Hübner studied film directing at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg from 2008 to 2014, specializing in narrative filmmaking.
Since 2015, he has been working as a freelance director for film and
television. His graduation film PORN PUNK POETRY won the Studio Hamburg Young Talent Award in 2015 for Best Medium-Length Film, as well as the Michael Ballhaus Prize at the First Steps Awards in 2014. The following ZDF web series FAMILIE BRAUN received the German Comedy Award for Best Innovation in 2016, the ROMY Award from the Academy in the same year, and the International Emmy Award for Best Short Form Series in 2017. In 2016, he co-directed the ZDFneo series BLAUMACHER with Pia Strietmann, which was nominated for the German Television Award in 2018. In 2018, he directed the first two episodes of the successful new ZDF Sunday evening series ELLA SCHÖN, starring Annette Frier. In 2020, he launched the crime series EIN KRIMI AUS PASSAU for ARD with two feature-length films. This was followed in 2021 by the Netflix series KITZ, which he co-directed with Lea Becker. In 2022, he directed and co-created
the Warner Original series BOOM BOOM BRUNO, which premiered in 2023 and was nominated for a Grimme Award. In 2025, he took over as director of the highly acclaimed series KU'DAMM 77.
Maurice Hübner is represented by the Felix-Bloch-Erben agency and lives in Berlin.
