Kerstin Höckel

Kerstin Höckel is a writer, director and showrunner with more than 25 years of experience across television, film and literature. After starting out as an actress, she moved into writing and developing original stories with a focus on emotional depth, humor and relevant contemporary themes.
Her work includes award-winning short films, four novels, and numerous series and feature productions she has shaped as head writer or creative lead. Her stories revolve around morally complex characters, layered relationships and human contradictions — told with warmth, tension, wit and a sharp sense for nuance.
In 2025, she took part in the European Showrunner Training at ifs Cologne. Recent projects such as Sos – Save Our Souls and European Dreamers reflect her focus on international storytelling and European collaboration.
Today, she develops original series formats for an international audience. She is particularly drawn to innovative serial storytelling and emerging formats such as vertical storytelling, which she sees as both a creative opportunity and an exciting challenge.
