Jan Martin Scharf

Jan Martin Scharf graduated from the Academy of Media Arts in Cologne with his feature film "Truth or Dare." Since then, he has worked as a director on projects such as "Dessau Dancers," "Club der roten Bänder," "Tatort," "Väter allein zu Haus," and "Alphamännchen." As a screenwriter, he regularly collaborates with co-author Arne Nolting on "Tatort" and created the series "Friesland," "Die Bestatterin," and "Väter allein zu Haus." As a showrunner, they wrote and developed the series "Weinberg," "Barbaren" (Season 1), "Wild Republic," and „Rampensau". Currently, "Alphamännchen" and "Die Düsteren" are in production as series. Scharf has received several awards, including the Hochschulfilmpreis in Gold, the Studio Hamburg Young Talent Award for Best Film, two German Television Awards, two Grimme Awards, and the International Emmy Kids Award (for "Club der roten Bänder"), as well as multiple accolades at international film festivals, including the Silver Zenith for Best First Feature at the Montreal Film Festival.
