Esra & Patrick Phul

Esra and Patrick Phul are a filmmaking duo from Cologne. They develop socially relevant content for a broad audience, combining strong genre elements with emotional stories that entertain, touch, and inspire reflection.

With their rap-musical series Hype, they created a format entirely new to the German market, which was nominated for the prestigious Grimme Award. They are currently producing the high-end series All Heroes Are Bastards, in which people with migration backgrounds receive superpowers and stand up against exclusion and oppression. Both projects exemplify their approach of translating social issues into popular and accessible formats.

In addition, they are committed to greater equity and visibility in the film industry. With Talent Over Privilege, they launched Germany's first awards ceremony for film professionals with migration backgrounds, creating a platform to honor talent both in front of and behind the camera. Their goal is to strengthen diverse perspectives in film and television and empower people to tell their own stories.
