Bettina Oberli studied film at Zurich University of the Arts. Following her award-winning film Im Nordwind (2004), her second feature film Die Herbstzeitlosen (2006) ran for a year in Swiss cinemas and was also a box office hit in many other countries. The film won various awards and was Switzerland's official entry for the Academy Awards in 2008. In 2008/09 Bettina Oberli made the feature film Tannöd in Germany, an adaptation of the crime drama by Andrea Maria Schenkel. Her feature film Lovely Louise premiered in September 2013 and was sold to various countries. In 2018, her first French-language film, Le Vent Tourne, premiered and won the Variety Piazza Grande Award in Locarno and being released internationally. Following the successful global launch of Wanda, mein Wunder (2020), she is now also working for the European series market. She directed the Grimme Prize-nominated ARD miniseries 37 Sekunden and co-directed with Matthias Glasner Nachts im Paradies for Canal+. In addition to directing the WDR miniseries naked, she is developing various new projects with her company Looping Film.
